I explore ideas and turn them into something real.
Who I am
I’m Quincy van Arneman Zimmerman (QVAZ), a visual artist with a multidisciplinary, material-driven practice.
My work moves between painting, graphic and illustrative work, and three-dimensional metal objects. Research and the making process are central to what I do. Studies and finished pieces feed into an ongoing development of my work.
Growing up on Curaçao shaped the way I see the world. Surrounded by colour and the sea, I developed an early curiosity for how things are made.
Watching programs like How It’s Made and Grand Designs made that even stronger, seeing how ideas take form and become real.
Today, I explore ideas through art, materials and projects.
What I do
I work across different forms of making.
Painting, graphic and illustrative work, and objects in metal.
Some things start from material, others from an idea. Over time, it comes together in one practice.
Alongside that, I initiate and develop projects where different disciplines come together.
How I work
My process is based on making.
I work directly with materials and develop ideas through doing. Studies, experiments and finished pieces all play a role in that process.
Most things are made while the initial energy is still there. That’s where the work takes shape.
Why I do this
Curiosity is at the core of my work.
I do this to understand myself. To see what I can do when I use my skills and keep developing them.I want to find out what is possible, also through working with others. Seeing what can come out of that.
I’m already building in that direction. I organized the Illusionary Love showcase, bringing together artists and musicians in one space. The goal was to create a platform for emerging talent and a setting where different disciplines meet in an open and inclusive environment.
Working as an independent artist is part of that process. It allows me to build my skills, gain experience, and create the means to support future projects.
Over time, this leads to projects and initiatives.
In the long term, I want to contribute to the development of thoughtful and accessible housing on Curaçao, together with people who want to build something meaningful.
Where I am going
What I am building now is part of a longer trajectory.
Everything you see here comes from an ongoing practice.
Exploration, materials, time, and process — all of it leads to the moment a piece becomes UnKosBunita.
If you feel connected to the work and want to support what makes it possible, you can contribute.
I need your support to help me achieve my Dreams.
UnKosBunita
UnKosBunita means something beautiful.
It’s what I say and feel when a piece reaches that point — when it’s done, when it feels right.
UnKosBunita
This space holds those pieces.
No two are ever the same.
What you see here are the pieces that made it.
