Accessible Housing on Curaçao
A direction towards more thoughtful, climate-responsive living.
1 Rethinking how we live
Housing can be more than functional.
It can respond to climate, support daily life, and create a sense of place.
This project explores what that could look like on Curaçao.
2 An ongoing exploration
This work started as a graduation project focused on improving the quality of social housing through design.
By looking closely at climate conditions, spatial use, and the needs of residents, a different approach begins to take shape — one that prioritizes comfort, airflow, and the relationship between private and shared space.
3 Living around space
At the center of the proposal is a shared courtyard.
Not as an obligation, but as an opportunity —
a space for movement, shade, interaction, and everyday life.
The housing is compact, but intentional.
Designed to work with the climate, not against it.
4 Why this direction
There is space to approach housing differently.
More aware of climate.
More connected to how people actually live.
More focused on quality — not just quantity.
5 This is not finished
This is not a final outcome.
It is a direction I am actively developing.
Through design, research, and collaboration, I’m exploring how this can move beyond concept into something real.
Let’s build on this
If you feel connected to this direction —
whether through design, development, or simply interest —
you’re welcome to reach out.
